Victor Liz claims Dominican Rep. Santiago League Hoops Agents weekly honour- April 15, 2021
The 34-year old shooting guard had a double-double of 37 points and fifteen rebounds, while his team edged out Plaza (#6, 1-7) 111-110. CPN maintains the 3rd position in Dominican Rep. Santiago League. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. CPN will need more victories to improve their 5-3 record. In the team's last game Liz had a remarkable 52.6% from 2-point range and got four three-pointers out of 9 attempts. He turned to be CPN's top player in his first season with the team. Liz has impressive league stats. He is in league's top in points (2nd best: 27.1ppg), rebounds (7th best: 7.7rpg) and averages solid 58.3% FGP and 41.0% from behind 3-point line. The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 24-year old guard Oliver Garcia (188-G-96) of Plaza. Garcia impressed basketball fans with 30 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. Bad luck as Plaza was edged by the higher-ranked CPN (#3, 5-3) 111-110. This loss caused Plaza to slide to the very bottom (6) position in the standings. 7 lost games are too many comparing to just one victory Plaza managed to get this year. Garcia is well-known by Plaza fans and he already established his position as one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 29.3ppg (#1). His other stats are also decent: 4.4rpg and 5.4apg. The third best performed player last round was Luis Santos (203-C-94) of top-ranked Cupes. Santos scored 21 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Despite Santos' great performance Cupes lost 79-83 to #4 ranked GUG. But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates especially in such crucial game. The last thing Cupes needs is to lose another game like this one. They lose more and more distance to the top teams. Their record is 6 victories and 2 lost games. Santos has a great season in Dominican Republic. After only 8 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 8.1rpg (5th best). He also has 2.1bpg and FGP: 59.7%. Other top performing players last week: 4. Ramon Galloway (190-SG-91) of CPN - 27 points, 4 rebounds and 6 assists 5. Kylon Tyree) of Plaza - 27 points and 6 rebounds 6. Juan Guerrero (205-F-93) of GUG - 19 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists 7. Edward Santana (203-F-80) of Plaza - 19 points and 8 rebounds 8. Saul Mejia) of Plaza - 11 points and 8 rebounds 9. Julio Rodriguez (185-G-01) of GUG - 13 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists 10. Jordan Williams (198-SG-92) of GUG - 22 points and 5 rebounds The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
